Making music in the Bronx means joining a conversation that has been taking place for over a century. It means carrying the traditions of a rich tapestry of cultures, cultures that have existed alongside of each other and with each other ever since the county was founded ages ago. The Bronx is also a place where artists come to establish unique new styles, like with the birth of hip-hop in parties and on street corners. Creating music in the Bronx means pushing the envelope. It’s marrying the old with the new. For me, it’s been a way to rediscover my roots and tell the story of my life – the struggles and the triumphs.

Ave Luz begins in Baja California Sur, the sacred territory we reside in today. Her beauty nurtures and fills us with inspiration. While living here we witness the constant miracle of nature and are accompanied by many beings that we embrace as our family. Through music we express the profound and infinite gratitude we feel, offering the purest of our being in devotion to love, the great mystery of life.

Almost all of my songs are written on ternary rhythms which i have always found very hypnotic and shamanic. The perfect vibe to communicate how i feelmaking itself present in all my expression. And being able to share a little bit of our contemporary life warms my heart.

I am so grateful to be part of this network of musicians and their authentic interpretation of their vision. Mexican music has influenced me, organically making itself present in all my expression. And being able to share a little bit of our contemporary life warms my heart. THANK YOU!

Dime Luní is a song that tells a story of a dialogue with the mirror of the night, with all its shadows, ghosts, and reflections of oneself in the darkness. It's a slightly sinister waltz, but its chorus echoes a bit like Icarus flying toward the sun. It's a song closely related to dreams and the dream world.

The music I make is identified as a Tarapaque romantic ballad, but it is music with Andean elements and instruments.

Singing inside James Turrell’s Skyspace was a special experience. The space’s unique presence, light, and color perfectly connected with the contemporary regional music. The sound feels thoughtfully crafted and aligns beautifully with the artwork.

Making songs independently from the southern part of the world means going against everything that might be predetermined. It’s a political act—doing what you love despite the circumstances. I feel very fortunate to have found a way to do it from Chile and to discover that not only have people listened to me in my country, but also in other countries as well.

When I knew we were going to perform and record at Barranca de Huentitán for this project, I knew I had to sing “La Sombra”. This location has such deepness with views and birds singing all over. They became part of our music that day. Jalisco is my birthplace, and I feel proud to represent Mexican and latin music in my own fresh and poetic way.

People from all over the world! We are Pargazz from Mexico! Our music is gypsy jazz; It is an incredible magical experience to play inside a cemetery in Todos Santos. It was quite an experience to have recorded music as incredible as Django Reinhardt's with Josh.

Being from Mexico has taught me to fight for my dreams, to respect my family, everyone and everything that surround me," André explains. "Since I was a child I listened to rancheras, José Alfredo Jiménez was my hero with Pedro Infante and Jorge Negrete.

The ability to express one’s inner feelings in Gugu Yalanji is a beautiful space & responsibility to be standing in. The feeling I get from singing this song live is one of empowerment, one of cultural identity, and to sing about Kalkurr (meaning ‘the road’).

This session was a profoundly impactful experience for me, allowing me to connect with my singing and my fellow musicians in a very organic and emotional way. Through these songs, I was able to address topics that are important to me, such as identity and mental health.

The Bolero is a music that is integrated into our day to day and gives the space to be able to express love or heartbreak in a very special and very simple way. We believe a resurgence of this genre is possible as in the golden age.

This land has allowed us to expand our creative womb and transmute many emotions and experiences through music. It is a land of abundance and freedom, where the desert meets the sea, which much like the creative womb contains multitudes.

DC is secretly a city of artists and creatives. Underneath the rumble of politics and preppy suits, are people who love to sing and dance and will go to see any type of show at any time. I love to play for DC people, omnivorous listeners who are eager to get lost in music.much like the creative womb contains multitudes.

I’ve always felt a strong connection to this city, and I think I always will. It holds a lot of family memories, it has seen me at my absolute best and worst, and it’s always here for me- sometimes freezing cold with four feet of snow, but begrudgingly welcoming, bursting with new ideas, and full of the smartest and most creative people I’ve ever met.

This is a love song and a goodbye song wrapped up into one -- I think there are moments in all of our lives when two things are pulling us apart, and that's what I wanted to capture when I wrote Leaving Philadelphia. I'd been sitting on this one for over a year looking for the right people to bring it to life when this session came along, so I'm lucky to have gotten to record it in such fast company. This song holds a special place for me, and so do the people playing it with me.

Long Slow Burn is a song about feeling stagnant in a nascent relationship out of fear that you could never be fully loved if you truly exposed yourself. I wrote it during a point in my life where I wanted so desperately to connect to people around me but felt the weight of my traumas holding me back. Admitting that I was afraid of being seen as a collection of experiences has allowed me to form deeper connections with people in my life and to become more than said experiences.
